A daughter of an alcoholic mother and drug-using stepfather struggled with drug use and truancy. At age 17, she got sober and began attending school regularly. Worried she would fall into bad habits with “old friends,” she looked for better role models and friends who would lead her to a better life. Coastal Mountain Youth Academy is a camp that takes at risk children and provides them with appropriate role models and structure designed to end drug use. Small Angels paid for her to attend Coastal Mountain Youth Academy. Now, she remains sober and drug free.
